6 Benefits of Biking to Work

Are you struggling to get in to some form of exercise routine? Taking the bike to work might be the solution you are looking for. Riding your bicycle every day can have many benefits, which I am going to list here.

 

1. Lose some weight

Riding a bike will burn calories and will make you lose weight. So incorporating biking to work will be a good routine to have for your health.

 

2. Breathe fresh air

Breathing the fresh air outdoors is good for your body, compared to the air inside the bus where flu etc. can spread.

 

3. Save money

Tight budget? You might want to look at ways to save some money, public transport can get quite costly in the long run, riding a bicycle to your work on the other hand, you will only have a one time fee, and after that it is pretty much free You can also save money by not spending money on the metro or other public transport.

4. Help conserve the environment

You are not burning any fuel when you are biking so it doesn’t have any effect on the environment and the air quality in general.

5. Improve your mood

Exercise has a lot of benefits for your mental health, reduce stress amongst other things. The sunlight will also have a boosting effect on your mood.

6. Fall asleep easier

Studies has shown that people with insomnia who starts to cycle for 20-30 minutes a day, begin to fall asleep about 30 minutes earlier than before.

Ways to enhance your biking experience

There are ways to make your daily bike ride more interesting, for example you could buy a bike computer, and keep track of different stats, like how fast you are going at the moment and your average speed, or the distance you have traveled.
